In the dynamic world of digital infrastructure and technology solutions, Teltrac were delighted to be asked to work on the HWR 25 Esk project in Invercargill. The multi-million dollar mixed-use development features an apartment and commercial space set across 9 stories, with retail tenancies on the ground floor which will flow seamlessly through to the neighbouring ‘Invercargill Central’ retail precinct.
Spanning a transformative 12 months from the end of 2022 to mid-2023, this project highlights Teltrac’s capability to deliver comprehensive, integrated systems tailored to the unique needs of modern buildings.
Aims and Objectives
The primary goal of the HWR 25 Esk project was to establish a robust base build that encompassed various systems essential for modern commercial spaces. Teltrac was entrusted with implementing cutting-edge access control (Gallagher) across all fire egress doors on each floor, integrating life safety systems, and installing a ground-floor camera system.
The project’s scope later expanded to include the complete fit-out of the building, necessitating the installation of a CommScope – Cat6A solution to ensure optimal connectivity and performance across the premises, all centralised through a singular server room designed to serve all floors efficiently.
Execution with Precision
Base Build: Installing Gallagher access control systems, life integration, and a camera system on the ground floor set the foundation for a secure, monitored environment.
Floors 5 – 8: The team deployed structured cabling, fibre optics between floors, MATV installation using a mix of customer-supplied and Teltrac-provided hardware, CCTV installation (Hikvision), and AV solutions for boardrooms and cafe areas. They also ensured the seamless integration of technology at each workstation, including desk cabling, WiFi installations, and AV screens.
Specific Floor Solutions: For Level 3 (Forsyth Barr) and Level 4 (Bonisch Consultants), Teltrac provided tailored fit-outs that included structured cabling, fibre optics, AV, and CCTV systems. Level 1 (Westpac) saw the integration of its systems into the Gallagher Access Control framework, enhanced by ICT solutions.
Collaboration and Teamwork
The project was a collaborative effort with notable companies such as Naylor Love for the base build and Unispace for the fit-out phases, underscoring Teltrac’s ability to work seamlessly alongside other industry leaders. Initially, the project was managed by the Invercargill team. As the project’s scale and complexity grew, additional support was drawn from Teltrac’s Queenstown and Dunedin teams. This collaborative effort involved 10 to 12 skilled individuals, including the specialised contribution of Maurits Roos for Access Control, showcasing the depth of Teltrac’s talent pool.
The HWR 25 Esk project in Invercargill is a great example of Teltrac’s dedication to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction in the digital infrastructure domain. Through meticulous planning, expert execution, and seamless collaboration, Teltrac’s team fulfilled the comprehensive demands of the project, helping Invercargill’s innovative developments that are nurturing the future of community spaces while bringing smiles throughout the deep south.
